CHILDREN’S READING program Details

All lessons are taught individually: one student and Ms. Finch.… every time. 

Average rate of progress is one year of reading skills gain per every 1-2 months of full-time program participation.

All students are required to attend four 45  minute lessons every week, Monday - Thursday via zoom or in person in Scottsdale or Fountain Hills, AZ.. 

Typical program duration is four to eight months, depending upon individual student needs.

The Myers Method of structured literacy instruction is based in the Science of Reading and is in alignment with best practices in literacy instruction according to the National Reading Panel report of 2000, commissioned by Barbara Bush. I have combined the best of Orton Gillingham with the best of Reading Recovery. Then, I pared down the curriculum to only the core elements (got rid of the fluff), added my own specialized multi sensory techniques and as much repetition as necessary for the child to reach automaticity, beyond mastery level. Methods are in alignment with neuroscience to train executive functioning skills. Each moment of instruction is expertly scaffolded to keep the child in their own zone of proximal development (Vygotsky). All methods are trauma informed.

Reading Rescue serves students in grades k-5 and older who are 1-5 years behind in reading level progress.
